Well before the pandemic, organisations had realised that ‘training’ leaders and managers through intensive workshops and events was only ever going to get them so far. In fact, HBR once referred to leadership training as the ‘Great Training Robbery’ – billions being spent with little to show in return. What we tend to forget sometimes is the simple fact that most managers in most organisations;
Have lots of experience
Have had good training and development
And most importantly are already trying their hardest!
But the reality is they are BUSY! As the world around them changes at an unprecedented rate, they are dealing with more responsibility, reduced time and resources, and increased complexity! Leading and managing people isn’t easy!
So sometimes you just need a nudge. A prod in the right direction, to remind you of all the good stuff you already know about, but have difficulty locating when the pressure is on.
